The Course

The Headington Oxford Easter School provides international students with an exciting English language course that combines lessons and activities with a fantastic cultural experience.

Oxford is famous throughout the world for its university. Nowadays, it is a city that combines an interesting history with a modern vibrant atmosphere. Headington School is located close to the centre of Oxford, in a beautiful, secure location with a mixture of historic and modern buildings. Facilities at the school are exceptional, including a fully equipped sports hall, Astroturf pitches and an indoor swimming pool. The boarding facilities are very comfortable and each boarding house includes a range of bedrooms and social areas where the students can relax with their new friends.

English Lessons

Six mornings of the course are spent focusing on classroom based English learning. The students are tested on arrival to gauge their level and placed in classes on the basis of level, age & nationality. Our syllabus is designed to help students to develop their skills in speaking, listening and writing. The engaging lessons are designed especially for multi-national classes of children. All students will receive 18 hours of classroom based English tuition from our qualified and friendly native English Teachers.

Afternoon Activities

On four afternoons the students take part in the multi-activity programme, with activities on offer to suit everyone. There will usually be a choice of four activities, each making use of the fantastic facilities at Headington School.

Oxford Afternoons

Two afternoons of the course will be devoted to visiting the vibrant and historical city of Oxford. Students will have a chance to visit one of the world famous colleges of Oxford University, and soak up the atmosphere of the inspiring surroundings on a guided traditional river punt. There will also be time to pick up souvenirs from Oxford's excellent shopping.

Evening Activities

Evening activities give the whole school the opportunity to get to know one another in a relaxed, multi-national environment, whilst taking part in varied and fun activities.

Students will also go off site on one night to enjoy a social night ten-pin bowling at a nearby Bowlplex.

Excursions

London Day

A trip to the UK would not be complete without a visit to the bustling capital city of London. Students will see famous tourist attractions such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square. There will be time to explore Covent Garden, a historic market district with an excellent mix of shops, restaurants, and entertainment. Students will round off the day with a panoramic view of London from a ride on the iconic London Eye and there will even be dinner at a London restaurant before heading back to the school.

Warwick Castle and Shakespeare's Stratford

Warwick Castle is one of ancient England's finest castles and today has been changed into a living show of battles, dungeons and ghost stories. Nearby Stratford-upon-Avon is the birthplace of Shakespeare and the perfect example of historic England.

Travel and Transfers

We offer an Airport Transfer Service for students attending Headington Oxford Easter School, at an additional cost to the course price - please see the booking form for details. The English language placement and induction will take place after the evening meal on the arrival date. Therefore students should aim to arrive at the school by 18:00 on the arrival date.

For departure from the UK, flights home should be booked for the stated Departure Date. Parents wishing to collect their children directly from the school should do so on the morning of the Departure Date.

Prices and Payment

Headington Oxford Easter School is operated by Summer Boarding Courses Ltd who will handle all payments and enquiries.

Upon receipt of your booking, we will issue you with an invoice and confirmation e-mail. A deposit of £250 is payable within 10 days of invoice. Please do not send payment until you have received your invoice. The balance of payment is due before Monday 25th February 2013. Bookings made after this date are payable in full within 10 days of invoice.
